Pet Portrait Commissions

The Way it Works

  • Choose your Subject

Are you looking for a portrait of an individual pet or would you like multiple pets in one portrait? Base prices are provided based on single-subject portraits but creating a portrait with multiple pets is certainly an option. Prices for multi-subject portraits is adjusted $100 for each additional subject.

*Please note that the amount of subjects may effect which sizes are available for your portrait (i.e.: do not try to squish multiple pets into a 5” x 7” portrait -it will not come out well)

  • Choose your Size & Surface Type

I offer several standard sizes available for Portrait Commissions, as well as the choice for the portrait to be completed on paper or canvas.

    Standard sizes include:

    5” x 7”, 8” x 10”, 11” x 14”, & 16” x 20” *

Portraits chosen to be completed on canvas will be created using a combination of charcoal, pan pastel, and acrylic paint, and have the option to incorporate color.

Portraits chosen to be created on paper will be drawn using charcoal and some graphite, and will be strictly black and white.

*Additional sizes are available and can be customized, but do not include the free framing mat available with Standard Sizes for portraits on paper

  • Choose your Reference Photo

I create your Pet Portrait based on a specified reference photo of your choosing. Providing multiple photos of your pet is not required but very helpful, as it helps me determine correct coloring and details that may be blurry in the main reference photo.

Tip: when choosing a reference photo its helpful to keep an eye out for images that are well lit and good clarity (not blurry). Photos of pets taken from the subject’s eye level work best - keep in mind that the portrait will likely be hung on the wall and looking ‘out’ or ‘down’ from their positioning. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or inquires about workable photos.

If you would like changes made in the portrait that differ from the reference photo I will do my best to accommodate changes as much as I can, but extensive changes may result in additional fees (to be discussed prior to beginning the portrait). In past projects I’ve removed moles, change ear positions, brightened a shadowed side of the face, etc.
