Christ Crucified

Christ Crucified - Charcoal Recreation was actually a commission request and quickly became the most meaningful commission I’ve ever created. The original piece is an oil painting by Spanish artist Diego Velazquez c. 1632 and a piece that speaks of hope and God’s love and grace to my amazing client. While a bit out of my usual portrait wheelhouse, as a Christian, I was both terrified and very excited to accept the challenge. Throughout working on this piece I grew closer in my relationship with God and creating this piece became a spiritual journey for me. I hope my completed rendition reminds you of God’s everlasting love for you.
